Long-term partnership between the American Chambers of Commerce in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkey within the framework of FGI: “Regional AmCham Network” program resulted in the signing of Memorandum of Understanding.
From June 2-3, 2022, delegation of AmCham Uzbekistan attended the Regional Tour to Istanbul. The goal of the visit – strengthen business relations between regional AmCham members.
During the first day of the Tour, AmCham Turkey hosted the first “AmCham Central Asia Regional Meeting” where:
- AmCham Uzbekistan along with regional chambers presented their activities and business environment of countries to AmCham Turkey members and DEIK Turkey-Eurasia Business Councils members.
- A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between all participating chambers of commerce, which ensures further cooperation, including sharing information and good practices with a view to expanding capacity; creating trade delegations; staging virtual / in-person summits and award projects; organizing a staff exchange program; sharing key events among the signatories and strengthening of business and economic ties in the region. During the ceremony, AmCham Türkiye Board Member Haluk Yalçın said, “We’re working to develop our cooperation with the American Chambers of Commerce in the Central Asian countries for the purpose of strengthening Türkiye’s regional role and promoting mutual relations. We’re greatly happy to host the representatives of AmCham Uzbekistan, AmCham Kyrgyzstan and AmCham Tajikistan at this meeting arranged for this purpose. The memorandum of understanding we signed today represents a major stride toward bringing the potential of our cooperation to life. I’m confident that we’ll soon begin harvesting the rewards of our cooperation thanks to the synergy this MoU will generate.”
- Members of AmCham Uzbekistan attended B2B meetings where they established partnerships with regional and Turkish companies.
- Moroglu&Arseven Law Firm provided a seminar on “Business Opportunities and Legal issues in Turkey”, where members received practical insights and know-how information on legal procedures of launching a new business or relocation of business to Turkey.
- Seminar was followed by a Cocktail Reception hosted by US Consul general Daria Darnell, where delegations of Regional AmChams discussed the opportunities of future projects.
During the second day of the Tour, members had a visit-tour to Mondelez International, the largest snacking factory, which produces 80+ brands as Oreo, Milka, Toblerone, which supplied to more than 50 countries including Uzbekistan. Ekrem Cinar, Plant Director, Spoke in detail about the activities of the plant, mechanisms, and processes of production.
Regional Tour to Istanbul was a great opportunity to introduce Uzbekistan’s economic and investment potential and the AmCham Uzbekistan business-delegation: Balton Trading Asia and Leader Foam Rubber to Turkish potential investors and partners.
