ESG Workshops

The American Chamber of Commerce in Uzbekistan and the UN Global Compact in Central Asia, in partnership with EY, PWC, and KPMG held high-level event “ESG and Capital Markets: attracting financing via best ESG practices” which marked the beginning of a series of 8 workshops aimed at promoting sustainable development, corporate social responsibility, and environmental, social, and governance practices among companies operating in Uzbekistan. The workshops are aimed to:

  • Promote sustainable development, CSR, and ESG practices among companies in Uzbekistan
  • Provide practical knowledge and guidance to participating companies through expert-led workshops
  • Encourage businesses to adopt more sustainable and socially responsible practices that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Create a more resilient and prosperous business environment in Uzbekistan
  • Foster collaboration and networking opportunities among companies committed to sustainability
  • Showcase best practices and success stories of companies that have adopted sustainable development practices services in detail

    8 workshops will cover such topics as: 

    1. 5 October, 2023 – Sustainability Reporting Standards: IFRS S1 & S2 – Start with the foundational knowledge of sustainability reporting standards to establish a common understanding of reporting frameworks and requirements.
    2. 13 October, 2023 – Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Integration – Move on to understanding how businesses align their strategies and initiatives with the global Sustainable Development Goals. This workshop helps participants comprehend the broader context of sustainability and social impact.
    3. 26 October, 2023 – Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action – Build upon the SDGs workshop by focusing on specific environmental aspects, such as climate change and sustainability. This workshop explores the challenges and opportunities for organizations to address environmental issues.
    4. 9 November, 2023 – Human Rights Due Diligence – Shift the focus to the social aspect of sustainability by examining human rights due diligence. This workshop addresses the responsibility of businesses to respect and uphold human rights within their operations and supply chains.
    5. 24 November, 2023 – Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment – Continue with the social theme and explore the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the context of sustainable business practices.
    6. 7 December, 2023 – Sustainable Supply Chain Management – After understanding environmental and social concerns, delve into supply chain management with a sustainability perspective. Participants will learn about responsible sourcing, ethical considerations, and the overall impact of supply chain activities.
    7. 21 December, 2023 – ESG Strategy Development – Now that participants have gained insights into different sustainability components, it’s time to bring it all together. This workshop focuses on developing a comprehensive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy that incorporates the various elements discussed in the previous workshops.

    8. 12 January, 2023 – Approaches to Automation of ESG Data – Conclude the series with a workshop on leveraging technology and automation to gather and analyze ESG data efficiently. This workshop demonstrates practical ways to implement and monitor sustainability efforts effectively.
