AmCham Uzbekistan Corporate Governance Committee, led by KPMG and supported by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, organized a half-day seminar-workshop on “Corporate Governance: Current Issues in Compliance and Internal Audit.”
The April 4th half-day event, held at Hyatt Regency Tashkent, became a platform to shape up a solid Central Asia Compliance Platform.
The agenda included two expert-led panel discussions of public and private sectors: “The Role of Compliance in the Corporate Governance System as a Second Line of Defense” and “The Role of Internal Audit in the Corporate Governance System as a Third Line of Defense.”
The newly launched manual “Corporate Governance,” developed by KPMG and the Association of Independent Directors of Kazakhstan, is a helpful source to be used by directors.
The event gathered over 60 professionals from 9 banks, 30 corporations, professional compliance bodies, and a regulator, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. The roundtable covered the evolving role of compliance and internal audit within corporate governance frameworks. Industry experts shared insights on regulatory expectations and regional trends.
