Business delegations from AmCham Uzbekistan, AmCham Kyrgyzstan and AmCham Tajikistan arrived in the United States as part of the Regional Business Tour which took place from October 21 to 29.
▶️The Business Delegation of AmCham Uzbekistan is represented by two member-companies from leading economy sectors: TBC Uzbekistan, first digital bank in Uzbekistan, AmCham Uzbekistan Gold Member and FC FirstGroup LLC, one of the largest FMCG distribution networks in Uzbekistan, AmCham Uzbekistan Silver Member.
On October 23, 2023, during the first day of the tour, business delegations of AmCham Uzbekistan, AmCham Kyrgyzstan and AmCham Tajikistan visited a number of leading innovation companies and hubs located in Silicon Valley.
▶️Program started with the visit to Silkroad Innovation Hub, a platform for networking, knowledge sharing and partnership development among IT professionals, entrepreneurs, the aim of which is to promote Central Eurasia as a unified region in the Silicon Valley. Asror Arabzhanov, co-founder of Silkroad Innovation Hub, shared his thoughts and experience in promoting the countries of Central Asia as a promising investment destination.
▶️Later the delegation met Sophie Alcorn, leading immigration attorney in the US, founder of Alcorn Immigration Law, who provided an overview of various types of visas available for entrepreneurs and investors looking to expand their businesses in the US.
▶️Another meeting was held at Plug and Play Tech Center, a global innovation platform that connect early-stage investors, startups, and major global corporations. Elina Aleinikova, Senior Program Manager, conducted a tour for the delegates, where she shared the success stories and achievements of startups in the platform.
▶️The program of the day finished with the visit tour to Googleplex and Stanford University.
During next days, delegation visited several key organizations, including the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and the International Trade Administration (ITA).
First, delegation met Mrs. Marisa Lago, Deputy Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, who emphasized the importance of networking initiatives between Central Asian countries and highlighted the significance of developing collaboration between U.S. businesses and Central Asian countries.
Afterwords, the delegation met with the partners from the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) and the International Trade Administration’s SABIT program. The meeting’s main prerogative – the CLDP’s commitment to regional trade cooperation and the engagement of key trade issues in Central Asia with special attention to private sector involvement in digital trade and women’s entrepreneurship.
Another meeting was held with the representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the largest global development institution focused on improving population life in developing countries by investing in private sector growth, whose team coordinating IFC activities in Central Asia presented the investment statistics and the outcomes of the projects implemented in Central Asian countries.
Another vital meeting was hosted with the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) at the United States Department of State.
Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) is AmCham’s strategic partner, a non-governmental research organization. CIPE works to develop a better environment for business, trade, democracy, and governance while encouraging both private citizens and the private sector to extend their involvement in the policymaking process. The discussion revolved around the ongoing projects on advocacy, private and public dialogue, and the tangible progress within the Program for Improving the Business Environment in Central Asian Countries (IBECA).
Within the week business owners and top executives from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan gained insights into the innovations, developments and operational principles of American companies and facilitated the establishment of partnership projects by attending meetings, tours, and discussions with organizations and companies based in San Francisco (Silicon Valley) and Washington DC.
